Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT) Interpretation Made Easy

INTERPRET PULMONARY FUNCTION TESTS (PFTs) WITH CONFIDENCE

Pulmonary function tests are essential tools for diagnosing and managing various respiratory diseases.  PFTs are among the most common lung-related tests ordered by clinicians.

Unfortunately, many physicians, PAs, NPs, RTs, and other clinicians have not learned how to unlock the full potential of PFTs and avoid common interpretation pitfalls.

Join renowned professor Roger Seheult, MD as he concisely explains the key components of the PFTs that you need to know... from using flow volume loops to diagnose asthma and COPD to the power of the Methacholine challenge test and DLCO.

After this series of short videos and quizzes, you'll be on your way to accurately interpreting PFT results, and save time in the process.

Pulmonary Function Test Explained Clearly is a course designed to clarify, review, and augment the training and understanding of primary care clinicians in their understanding of pulmonary function testing. The module included in this course takes a departure from the traditional slide presentation style lecture. Instead, the course is comprised of a video lecture aided by real-time instructor-led chalkboard visuals. This method of learning allows for the subject matter to bebroken down to the basics and is designed to increase learning and retention. Pulmonary Function Test Explained Clearly covers pulmonary function testing and discusses what are normative values and how to create an algorithm for reading pulmonary function tests and interpretation of a full pulmonary function test. This CME course will utilize a combination of video and systematic discussion of clinical scenarios and practice cases to effectively deliver the course content.

Course Objectives:

As a result of this educational activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Discuss the basis of what normative values are based on in pulmonary function tests.
  • Describe a systematic approach to interpretation of pulmonary function testing.
  • Interpret correctly a full pulmonary function test including spirometry, lung volumes, and DLCO.

Post-Test and Evaluation:

After completing the CME activity, you must successfully complete a post-test and fill out a program evaluation form. You will then be able to view and print your CME certificate.
